Extropy

September 20th, 2009 by Senna

Extropy, a short film by Johnathan Sanden, is about a geneticist who has found the key formula to stop the aging process so that we can live forever.  Sound remotely familiar to anything coming up?  Uhhh, Mohinder Suresh finding the key formula to give humans supernatural abilities ring a bell?  The season premiere of Heroes is tomorrow night and I am stoked and so grateful that fellow blogger Sydney got me into this show.  We <3 Sylar! Lol jk…

Check out the preview for Entropy.

Let There Be Wrock!!

July 19th, 2009 by Amanda

io9 says:

“Josh Koury’s documentary “We Are Wizards” delves into the genre of Wizard Rock. As homespun as the fan culture it celebrates, it’s an endearing snapshot of the freaks and geeks who’ve made a place for themselves in the Potter fan-verse.

True fandom knows no bounds. The evolution of fan culture is not a trajectory that can be measured or predicted.”

Brothers Joe and Paul DeGeorge formed Harry and Potters in 2002. Other bands have formed since, such as Draco and the Malfoys, Whomping Willows, The Parselmouths, The Moaning Myrtles and many others. Many of whom wrock together and play at festivals such as Wrockstock.. Umm, we’re definitely going to Wrockstock this year.

“The world of Wrock is not just geeky, but also strives to be socially conscious. Joe and Paul know that their elementary school fan base looks up to them as idols, and they try to promote literacy in the true spirit of Rowling’s best-selling series.”

Full Trailers: District 9 and Evangelion 1.0

July 12th, 2009 by Amanda

The Awesomer says:

070909_district_t

“The full trailer for District 9 is finally out, and it’s whopper: there’s much more action than we expected, with exosuits and explosions aplenty–hopefully, without sacrificing the plot.” This one definitely looks better than the teaser we saw the other night during Blood the Last Vampire.

And also “Evangelion 1.0 finally makes it to the US July 17th at 77 theaters; it’s part of a four-movie arc that rebuilds the original anime with notably improved animation and faster-pacing.” Get excited!!! You can view the trailer here.

Living with The GRIM

June 11th, 2009 by Sydney

I’m taking care of one of my grandfather’s dog at my house for the next few weeks… and he looks like the Grim from Harry Potter!!  I don’t know.  I think he looks like the Grim.  Well, whatever anyone thinks, it’s still really scary waking up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom and seeing that in your doorway.

I mean, I guess the Grim ends up being Sirius Black, one of my favorite characters. Maybe Rex is an animagus and he’s just waiting for the perfect moment to turn into Gary Oldman! Be still, my heart.

UP…craft?

June 8th, 2009 by Amanda

up-characters-main-600x3653Hey all!!

Amanda here, newest blogger on FANTASY IRL. I saw up the other day and I was just wondering… did anybody else noticed the similarities between the bird known as Kevin from the movie and the Blood Elf mounts in the popular MMORPG known as World of Warcraft. One does look much nicer than the other, but I feel they both have extremely similar characteristics. Such as the yellow underbelly, the feathers on the head, and the coloration of the feathers, not to mention you can ride both of them. And they are both so cute and soft looking!!

I also couldn’t help but notice that the area where they travel to in South America looked a lot like Thousand Needles. Did anybody else notice this?…hmm….Did World of Warcraft perhaps lend some inspiration to Bob Peterson and Pete Doctor? I for one would not be surprised if either of them played. ^.^ So if any of you haven’t seen “Up” yet or played World of Warcraft, I highly advise that you do one of those two things, OR BOTH!! :D
